About us

Welcome to Plainview!

Whether you are visiting or already a member of our congregation, we sincerely want you to feel at home with us.

We are a small congregation with a big heart. We are all unique in our own ways, but there is one thing we all have in common - each one of us needs Christ.

Who we are

Pulpit Minister

Tom House has been with the Plainview congregation for over 20 years. He graduated from Freed-Hardeman University. He is married to Nina Ruth House.

Song Director

We are fortunate to have Brother Bob Gililland direct our singing. For those who wish to improve their ability to sing, Bro. Bob Gililland conducts a monthly singing workshop. For more information, call: 662-862-7945

Bible Classes

We provide classes for all ages covering a variety important and interesting subjects. Children of all ages can take part in our active youth program. Our teens are grounded in fundamental principles of New Testament Christianity. Our young men intensely train in classes to lead in singing, serving, and speaking.

Our Purpose

The Lord's church was designed to be a spiritual conduit, if you please, from man's existence on earth, to reach the very presence of the Almighty God. While some may attempt to lessen the significance of the church, and only elevate one's relationship to Christ; the two cannot be separated. If one is to be "in christ", and one must be, if there is any inclination to be saved [2 Cor. 5:17, Gal. 2:26-27], one will also be in the church; for the same blood which redeems man from sin [1 Pet. 1:18-19] is the same blood which purchased the church. [Acts 20:28]. For us, here at Plainview, the challenge is to help as many as possible come to know the love of christ, and how one might avail oneself of the blood which He shed to redeem man from sin. In doing so, it is incumbent upon us as members to remain true to "the book" without addition or subtraction. As well, it is our mission to "speak the truth in love", and yet stand firm on the foundation of that truth. This mission, perhaps, may be clearly stated by three scriptural texts:
1).   Ephesians 3:10 - To make known the "manifold wisdom of God".
2).   Galatians 6:10 - "Do good to all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith."
3).   1 Corinthians 15:58 - "...always abounding in the work of the Lord."
And a fourth might be added: Relevation 2:10, in which the Lord states, "Be thou faithful unto death..."
If you are looking for a congregation of the Lord's church set firmly on the principles taught by the Lord, you will be at home at Plainview. We warmly welcome you to come and visit with us, and we would love to have any who will, come and work with us. We are small, but have a vision and determination to grow. Come and help us help ourselves and others to reach Heaven.

"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might..."

Ecclesiastes 9:10a

The work we do

Benevolence

We are very mindful of our responsibility to help those who are in need. We have food and clothing vouchers available for use at local stores for those who have such needs. Our ladies are active workers in letter campaigns to encourage those who are weak, sick, and shut-ins.

Missions

Plainview supports several different evangelistic efforts: Northwest Florida School of Biblical Studies, Apologetics Press, World Video Bible School in the Chinese Language
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." - Matthew 28:19-20

"And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."

Mark 16:15
